Joseph Buck was born 11 October 1760 in New Milford, Massachusetts. His parents were Lemuel Buck and Bertha McEwen. He married Hannah Hard, daughter of Zadock Hard and Chloe. They had six children. Joseph went to Vermont with his father in about 1780 and served in the 84th Royal Highlanders Regiment in the Revolutionary War. The family settled in Dunham, Quebec after the war. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in Quebec, New Hampshire, Connecticut and Massachusetts.
